Our beliefs and motivations play a huge part in how we respond to the needs of others. Yet, research from both secular aid and development sectors and faith-based missions sectors show that the outcomes of our charitable giving often doesn’t have as much impact as we assume. These studies raise questions about strategy, dependency and long-term outcomes.

The Walk Humbly Initiative aims to equip you - the everyday Australian neighbours, volunteers, supporters and donors - with the tools you need to make sure that the way you choose to support others sees the transformative change you are hoping for. And, most importantly, that the beneficiaries of the projects you are supporting are empowered to make a change in their own lives and their own communities.

The Walk Humbly Initiative offers workshops, training curriculum and consultation to Australian faith-based communities. Our tools are designed to equip you, no matter your age or experience, to engage across cultural, class and social differences to create partnerships that transform communities.

By joining our community, you will:

Our resources are designed to explore engagement from the receiving communities’ perspective.

All our content is contextualised to the Australian experience through Stacie’s lived experience of development work overseas and locally.

  • Reflect

Our resources incorporate principles to help participants recognise personal assumptions and biases before engaging with marginalised communities.

  • Collaborate

We work in partnership with a range of organisations to develop training and consultation that equips you to understand best practice and make a difference in effective ways.

  • Answer your questions
