Growing Big Things Winter program
One of the goals of The Walk Humbly Initiative is to help our young people think through what it means to love and care for others in ways that are integrated into their daily lives and do no harm.
Late last year, I partnered with Holy Innocent’s Anglican church in Belair to organise a holiday program aimed at upper primary and middle school students to explore how our relationships shape our understanding of the world, and how it’s our relationships with others and the world that shapes change.
After the holiday program was cancelled (thanks Covid!), we decided to trial the program as a monthly kid’s club. Over the last three months, we have explored why we should care, the importance of connection and spent two days exploring climate justice.
After a period of consultation with the participants, their parents and all the leaders involved, we have decided to continue with the program. We believe these monthly rhythms of being in community, reflecting on our relationships with others and having agency is important not only for engaging with justice, but for their own well-being and spiritual growth.
So it is with great celebration, that I can announce the new look and new schedule for Growing Big Things this Winter.
